Ania Basak was born in Poland, Europe where she was living before she came to Canada in 2007. Being born and brought up in a family where music was in air as well as in life, she was naturally attracted towards music.
From her childhood, Ania learned and developed immense interest in music. When she was 5 years old Ania started playing from ear and composing small but melodious pieces of music. At the age of seven, Ania went to Music School in Koscian, Poland which she successfully graduated in 1997 being one of the top three students. During the period of learning playing piano, she performed in many concerts and attended piano contests in Poland.
Although Ania was very ambitious and wanted to attain in the world of music, she chose different path of career at this time and started studying MBA at Administration & Law Department at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, which she graduated in 2007 as one of the best student of the year. Meanwhile though, Ania realized that she wants to come back to the music world and then she started teaching piano in Poland as well as in USA, where she was twice for few months.
After coming to Calgary in 2007, Ania decided to develop her interest in music and to teach piano – not only children but also adults.
“…I am very thankful to my parents for giving me the opportunity to learn playing piano when I was a child and I am very happy that I can share my passion and knowledge with my students…” – says Ania…
That was amazing event. I hope everyone enjoyed is as much as I did.

The event was great. It had special meaning for Katie's Oma as Katie is the first child (out of 6) or grandchild (out of 11) to show real interest in the piano. Having my 80 year old mother there to hear Katie play was a wonderful thing. Thanks Ania, for all the work and effort that went into arranging the event, and for giving us the wonderful opportunity to hear you play.
